Visual Art Goals:
To Be Able To Draw A Picture That Looks Like What Im Drawing!!! Not Something COMPLETLEY different =D
Technology-The funnest topic from technology would be sewing, because most days, we would get to take our projects home. Our projects were easier to finish than woodwork, because we spent the last four weeks in term 1, making our boxes, and barely made anything else. I enjoyed sewing, because it’s something different, and fun!
Sewing-In sewing, there were 9 Stages. We all started on stage one, and We learn’t how to use the sewing machines, and how to thread the machine etc. Our first project we did, was a bag caddy, which was quick and easy to make, which was stage 2. Stage 3 I made a wheatie bag, which was one of my favourite projects to make. I loved all of the scenting! Stage 4 I made a Tissue cover, which took around 5-15 minutes, Stage 5 we made a pin cushion, stage 6 I made a stuffed animal, which I think took me the longest to make.
Dislike- How we only made one project
Woodwork-In term one, I had woodwork. We had one big project to make, which was a wooden box. I made a wooden box, with a purple sliding lid. I think it was quite hard to make, but fun:) Towards the end of the term, we made wooden easter bunnies.
Ecological Buildings- In this term, our topic was Ecological Buildings-”Time for a change”. We chose a partner to work with, and Maddie and I did it together. Our task was to choose a building from the school to redo, and we chose the girls bathroom in the main building. I think our presentation was very good, and I know we worked really hard. My part of the inquiry was to research about ways to make the bathroom eco, and find other things. Maddie did some work too, and most of the bathroom plans. I really liked the topic, because it meant something to us, because it was to do with our school.
Dislike- I disliked how I had to do most of the work, and maddie only did the plans. She was away sometimes, which I found abit hard.
Maths- I think that maths wasn’t that easy as I thought it would be. We did a basic facts test often, which I think improved my work alot. My score range would vary from about 95-100. I found it hard to understand when miss fryer told us about maths. I think that I need to be shown “visually” which miss fryer did. The maths sites like smartkiddies and mathletics etc are really great. I am a competitive person, and on site like this, you can face people from around the world. I have recently started to really like www.smartkiddies.co.au
Cross country-
I am actually really glad and happy with my effort put into cross country this year. Every year I dread cross country, as I am not the fittest person. I usually come last, or middle. But this year I loved it. There were 18 girls, and I came 13th. I am so proud that I did so well, and I hope to continue around this number throughout my last year at school (Last year next year).
Descriptive Writing- I think that writing was one of my favourite topics this term/year. I think that my autumn poem kind of “Paints a picture” of autumn in your head, and I like how we learn’t to use similies and hyperboles, and I think that if you use them properly, you can do a great piece of writing. I enjoyed writing this term, and I would’ve liked to do more of it, but there is always next term.
Dislike- I think that we could’ve had abit more time to do our poems.
Te- Reo- I think that Te reo is ok. I didn’t really like learning it, because I can’t remember or pronounce it. I think that to be honest, it is abit boring, and I don’t think I would use it much.
Dislike- I don’t think I would use the Maori language much.
Fitness- I really liked fitness this term:)! I liked how we didn’t have too much to do. I like how we did relays. I learn’t how to just take your time, and just pace yourself. I think I am doing exceptionally well this year/term.
Performing Arts- I enjoyed our performances/art/drama/music. I liked how miss fryer teached us drama and we acted out fairytales. We had a group, and we would each do a fairytale. Once we were in our groups, miss fryer kind of “Mixed And Mashed” us around, you could say. Originally I was in hansel and gretel. In our group, there was me, Jordan, Savannah T, and Ryan. Then, we got mixed up. One person from each group, say for example, gretel from Hansel And Gretel, would be sent to say The Princess and The Pea, and they would have to act out the story, and how the new character got there, so I really enjoyed that! For art, Mr. Preston took all the room13 girls, and we painted murals, for our house groups. I am enjoying it! Music with mrs southey is fun too. I haven’t really got the hang of it yet, but we’ll see what happens.
Speeches- For our speeches, we got to choose our own topic, and perform a speech on it. I chose to do the holocaust, as I was very interested in it, and it seemed a good topic to do. I performed my speech to the class, and It ended up getting me through to the finals! I didn’t want to perform it to the whole syndicate, as I don’t speak good in front of an audience. I told miss fryer I didn’t want to, and she rang me up, and said I AM because I was probably the best of the lot! I talk fast in front of people, hence me saying. I didn’t get through to the Gladstone finals, but I’m still really glad that I got as far as I did! :)
Science Fair- It took me ages to do my science fair. I was really stressing, because it took me ages to get the equipment for growing salt crystals. We were to choose a big question, to do with science, and research it. I chose the question “how do salt crystals form and what are they made of” and I think that I did pretty well.
Reading Level- 4B Goal- I need to read more to understand words.
Writing Level- 3B Goal- I need to brainstorm more to get better idea's.
Maths- Level- 3B- To get better at percentages at school, and get good at them.

For our speeches, i really want to focus on learning it so i don't need the paper to see the words
